dog_fence_underground_fence_wire.JPG.jpgRich Weinssen, Owner of the Company, joins hosts Scott Sheppard and Lisa Gorman with tips on how to train your dog to stay in your yard. His company is a leader in advanced dog safety methods and they use the Pet Stop line of dog fence products in designing their solutions. Installed with a series of underground wires and a radio receiver collar, the dog will effectively learn to stay within the bounds of the property lines in approximately 7-10 days. Rather than using a “shock therapy” method, Rich’s solution applies a gentler approach with a very low collar pressure to reinforce good behavior.

Lisa and Scott review current dog news and story highlights of the week. This week features a story on a dog who was one of the first bionic paw implant operations. The implant for the prosthetic will allow for growth around the metal connection area and if proven successful, will be used to further development efforts for human amputees. Read more at “Six Million Dollar Dog” on www.coolest-gadgets.com. Next story discusses a Chihuahua who was able to rescue his family’s toddler from a potentially fatal snake bite.

Lisa delivers the Doggie Chronicles Tip of the Week with a tip that busts the myth of shaving your dog in hot weather months. Clipping your long haired dog is OK, but be careful not to shave too close to the skin as that can potentially cause more problems including sunburn. Stay alert for signs of overheating which include panting and irregular breathing. Be careful when walking your pet on pavement as the hot black top can actually burn your pet’s feet, stay on the grass areas when possible.
